Guidelines
for Manuscript Submissions
Butte Publications publishes several educational titles each year. These may be language (English or sign) skill building, or professional resources. Each new title must be useful to Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Speech and Hearing, Special Education, English as a Second Language, or Early Intervention and Early Childhood.
If your proposed title fits one or more of the above categories, you may send your proposal to:
AcquisitionsPlease include as much of your manuscript as you have prepared, but at least the table of contents and 1-2 sample chapters (typed, double-spaced, and paginated).

Enclose a cover letter
describing:
Readers and Buyers. For whom did you write the book?
Are there certain organizations and institutions to which the book would
be of interest? If so, please identify them and their membership
size, if possible.
Competition. Are there any other books already published
that might compete with this book? How will your book be better
than those? How are they priced and how do you suggest pricing
your book relative to those?
Final Submission. How many printed, double-spaced, 8.5î
x 11î pages do you estimate the complete submission will take?
(We would need the final submission in both paper and computer disk
formats.) Indicate when you will provide the complete manuscript,
if the initial submission does not include a completed manuscript. If you would like your submission returned, please provide a self-addressed,
stamped envelope. Since we receive many proposals and our process
is deliberate and time consuming, please allow six months minimum for
a reply.You.
Your name, address, and phone number, and your credentials (what special
background do you bring to the authorship of this book?).
Your credentials and your thoughts about who will buy your work are important
factors for us. Successful works are written with specific readers
in mind who will spend their money to buy the work, and successful authors
have those buyers clearly in mind when they write.
